Sanding
In leather goods, the quality of a piece is reflected in the quality of its finishes.
A subtle detail that makes all the difference: sanding the edges of the leather.
Edge sanding is an essential step in the manufacturing process—the one that transforms a raw leather edge into a smooth, uniform surface ready for dyeing.
WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE ?
Sanding involves mechanically or manually abrading the edge of the leather to remove irregularities, exposed fibers, and imperfections created during cutting. This step prepares the leather for subsequent finishing processes: Dyeing, Polishing Used in both artisanal workshops and on industrial production lines, edge sanding can be adapted to any volume and any requirement. Whether it’s a bag, a wallet, or a series of belts, every piece undergoes edge sanding.Sanding by STIF
